Act
Three
Sister grew
stronger everyday, as I did. There was no end to the love shown
to us by Joseph, Mary and their two children.
One evening
the family dressed in their finest clothes and left. I heard the
soft ringing of bells and we all ran to the windows to look out.
"What can
that mean?" I asked Sister.
"Those
be the church bells" said Pilot. "Every year they ring
out in the cold night and all the humans go there to celebrate
the birth of The Child born in a manger."

What a wonderful
thing I thought to myself. At that moment, I made a wish that
Sister and I would always have a good home together.
The next day
there was a feast! The humans had goose and stuffing and all sort
of good food. We cats and kittens, and Pilot too of course, had
all the goose we could eat! It was a joyous time.
Then there was
a knock at the door. "It must be the Rosses," said Mary,
"they said they would be here to celebrate with us!"
More human children
to play with! We had a fine evening, running and chasing and playing
games.
Mr. Ross finally
turned to Joseph and Mary and said, "I have told Wife and
our two girls about Pilot's rescue of the two young cats. If you will
agree, we will take them both and give them a good loving home."
A home of our
own! And together! Sister and I leapt high into the air together,
reaching for unseen Angels we knew were in the room that night!
