My first memories
were of our Mother.
We didn't have
a regular home, the sort I know about now. But it was snug and
Mother took good care of us.
There were seven
of us, four boys and three girls. We called each other "Brother"
or "Sister" and our entire day consisted of eating,
sleeping and playing.

Once a day, a
kind lady brought food. At first we kittens didn't care for it,
but Mother lapped it up. Later, the lady brought enough for all
eight of us.
